Vote Riders: Voter ID Assistance Lab
Help us to continue building our voter ID assistance labs in Milwaukee, Orlando and Phoenix.
11% of voting-age U.S. citizens lack a current government-issued photo ID. As a result, roughly 25 million voters nationally do not have the only types of ID that are common to all state voter ID laws: the voter’s state driver’s license or state ID. These laws disproportionately impact communities of color, young people, the elderly and those with disabilities.
We are building a cost-effective, scalable program aiming to remove voter ID as a barrier to voting. We work to Identify, Educate, and Assist. We create partnerships with one-the-ground organizations to distribute voter ID information and identify those with questions or needing voter ID assistance.
Planned Use Of Funds
Additional funding will allow us to:
- Continue paying our Voter ID Coalition Coordinators who lead our efforts on the ground;
- Continue costs associated with printing and distributing our educational materials; and
- Allow us to build relationships with partner organizations.

Organization to Receive Funds
VoteRiders is a 501(c)(3) non-partisan organization whose goal is to ensure that no voter is prevented from voting because of a lack of ID nor deterred from voting because of a lack of confidence. Founded in 2012, VoteRiders builds Voter ID Coalitions in voter ID states with highly competitive races and hires Voter ID Coalition Coordinators to provide targeted, additive resources to partner organizations and the community. VoteRiders works with local organizations to provide training, information and outreach. VoteRiders (and its team of volunteers) then assists voters on an individual basis through the entire voter ID process.
