Latino Victory

Making sure Latino voices are heard by empowering Latino voters and developing Latino donors and candidates.

The Problem

Latinos make up 17 percent of the U.S. population, but only 1 percent of all elected and appointed officials in the country. The 115th Congress has a record 45 Hispanic members, but proportionately should have twice as many as that. Among the reasons for Latino political underrepresentation: many Latinos are ineligible to vote, while eligible voters are often concentrated in noncompetitive districts and states; and efforts to develop Latino candidates and donors have lagged in comparison to those of other groups.

The Solution

Latino Victory is a progressive organization working to grow Latino political power by increasing Latino representation at every level of government, from the school board to the Senate to the White House. The organization is dedicated to making sure Latino voices are heard by empowering Latino voters, developing a pipeline of Latino donors, and identifying, recruiting, and developing Latino candidates for public office. They are also working to raise awareness about Latinos’ contributions to the American society and build greater understanding between Latinos and other communities. Ultimately, the Latino Victory seeks “to strengthen the country through conversation and uplift the values of inclusion and civic engagement.”
