Provide homeless and near homeless individuals and families with individualized supportive services and tailored housing solutions.

The Problem

Boston currently has a homeless population of around 6,327 people, and while that's a 5% decrease from last year's count, the only acceptable number when it comes to homeless populations is zero. The mission of the Somerville homeless coalition is to provide homeless and near homeless individuals and families with supportive services and housing solutions with the ultimate goal of obtaining affordable housing for these individuals.

The Solution

Somerville Homeless Shelter achieves its mission through a variety of means. They help individuals gain access to permanent housing, these utilize shelters are a short term solution, they engage in extensive prevention programs to help individuals live independently, and they develop innovative programs of care to reduce emergency room visits.
