HEAL (Health Education & Advocacy Leaders)

RNs to the Rescue: Learn the tools to protect yourself in the medical system.

The Problem

Did you know that medical errors are the 3rd leading cause of preventable death in the United States? Or that there are 12 million misdiagnoses in the United States each year?

Are you aware that only 12% of adult Americans are health literate? This means that the majority of people are not familiar with medical terms or know how their bodies work. They may rely on commercial information and, often, underestimate the risks when making health care decisions. Further, people diagnosed with a serious illness are frightened and/or confused about their options. Complex conditions require complicated care and teaching this care is in short supply.

This is fertile ground for medical errors and poor health.

What to do? How can you protect yourself and your loved ones?

The Solution

At HEAL, we believe that the more you know, the better you can actively participate in your care.

This is exactly what we RN’s at HEAL (Health Education & Advocacy Leaders) will do: teach you tools to protect yourself in the healthcare system.

We are a national, non-profit, tax-exempt organization whose mission it is to present health literacy programs in your own communities. Imagine, nurses in your town teaching you to be safer and more successful in your healthcare!

HEAL will use your generous donations to research, write and apply for grants for further funding, develop educational materials, begin national outreach, and ensure success through strategic planning and good business practices.
