Craigardan's Rural Diversity Fellowship

People of color from diverse cultural backgrounds continue to face multiple barriers when it comes to accessing the arts, agriculture, wilderness, and environmental resources. This is especially true in rural areas such as the Adirondack region in New York.

The Problem

People of color from diverse cultural backgrounds continue to face multiple barriers when it comes to accessing the arts, agriculture, wilderness, and environmental resources. This is especially true in rural areas such as the Adirondack region in New York.

The Solution

We wish to provide a free opportunity for individuals to access Craigardan's residencies and educational programs through an annual fellowship. Applicants can choose from a variety of opportunities in the arts, academics, or agriculture and spend up to 6 months in residence at Craigardan with ongoing career support following the residency. Our hope is to provide the time and space for residents to immerse themselves in their area of study: culinary arts, studio and visual arts, agriculture, or research. Residencies are important additions to resumes and will help alumni with job placement. Additionally, many alumni find new opportunities and decide to stay in the Adirondack region.
