Global Voices
Curating, verifying, and translating the important stories we might be missing online.
The Problem
Many of the world's most interesting and important stories aren't in just one place. Sometimes they’re scattered in bits and pieces across the Internet, in blog posts and tweets, and in multiple languages. It’s too easy to miss these stories, whether due to language barriers or because the online “filter bubbles” we create for ourselves exclude them from our daily media diet.
The Solution
The 1,500-strong community of writers, analysts, online media experts, and translators behind Global Voices curate, verify, and translate trending news and stories we might be missing on the Internet. They scour websites, blogs, independent press and social media in 167 countries and translate stories into more than 35 languages. They also speak out against online censorship and support new ways for people to gain access to the Internet, seeking “to enable everyone who wants to speak to have the means to speak — and everyone who wants to hear that speech, the means to listen to it.”
