Brightline: Prototyping a high speed railway system in the United States

description

A high speed rail prototype that could inspire broader national projects

The Problem

America has for a long-time been the home of the open highway, but with the impending threats of climate change and rapid population growth, new forms of transportation are required. Focusing only on changes to automobile travel is not alone sufficient.

The Solution

There are alternatives, but one possibility is a national high-speed rail system that connects major and mid-sized American cities together. High speed rail can play a major role in tackling climate change, especially if it is affordable, powered by clean energy, and gets people where they need to be in a timely fashion. Brightline is the first U.S. corporation to prototype a high speed rail network in the U.S. Brightline is developing its first rail network in southern Florida, but if it’s successful, the initiative could create additional interest in high-speed rail in the U.S. and elsewhere.
