The Problem

Traditional education leaves far too many young people unequipped to thrive when they enter the workforce. All too often they leave high school without having developed strong academic skills in science, technology, engineering, art and math, much less more personal characteristics like leadership, resilience, self-confidence, teamwork, professionalism, and a strong work ethic. It’s little wonder that so many find themselves adrift cut off from opportunity to grow, learn, and prosper, personally and professionally.

The Solution

The Possible Project uses entrepreneurship as a framework to close the skills and opportunities gap facing young people with untapped potential. The three-year, year-round after-school program guides students through a dynamic curriculum, including hands-on work experience and individualized career planning. Students move through six progressive levels, in each phase gaining important personal and professional skills for lifelong success. Currently operating in three high schools in Cambridge, MA, the organization plans to bring the program to underserved communities in other states and around the globe. “Our ultimate goal for each student is that 10 years after graduating high school, he or she is self-sufficient and has a career, not just a job.”
