Grid Alternatives: Supporting Green Energy for All Communities

Bringing renewable energy technology and job training to underserved communities.

The Problem

The communities at the greatest risk from climate change are often the least equipped to deal with the impact. Low-income populations, living on the front lines of the rising seas, droughts, and heavy storms, tend to live in poorly built residences and are often forced to live closer to power plants, waste sites, and otherwise undesirable land that is often hardest hit by natural disasters.

The Solution

Grid Alternatives works to solve what are arguably the two biggest challenges of our time - climate change and economic inequality. The largest nonprofit solar installer in the U.S., GRID Alternatives installs solar exclusively for low-income families, while providing job-seekers with hands on training to build the skills and experience they need to secure jobs in the rapidly growing solar industry. Their long-term vision is to successfully transition to clean, renewable power that truly includes everyone.
