The most pressing challenges facing the world today — from accelerated climate change to rising inequality, terrorism, and forced migrations — increasingly demand a collaborative global response. Yet political rights and democratic accountability remain largely enclosed within national territories, and national governments have proven unable to overcome their differences and coordinate constructively to address global problems. In fact, in the absence of effective collective action, those problems have only worsened.

Democracy Earth Foundation is building free, blockchain-based, open source software to build a transnational network of voters empowered to register democratic decisions beyond the boundaries of territorial nation states. The organization, a community of hackers, thinkers and makers distributed around the globe, seeks “nothing less than true democratic governance for the Internet age, one of the foundational building blocks of an achievable global peace and prosperity arising from an arc of technological innovations that will change what it means to be human on Earth.”
