Building solution-oriented citizen engagement to protect our ocean and coasts and the communities that depend on them.
The ocean remains home to the majority of life on Earth, and covers two-thirds of the planet’s surface. The health of our oceans and coastal ecosystems is under assault as never before, threatened on multiple fronts — by plastic waste and other forms of pollution; by rising sea levels, ocean acidification, and other impacts of climate change; by overfishing and offshore oil and gas drilling.
Blue Frontier builds the solution-oriented citizen engagement needed to protect our ocean, coasts and the communities, both human and wild, that depend on them. Each of Blue Frontier’s Projects aims to expand public engagement and add new voices to marine conservation and restoration of our ocean and the communities that depend on it. The organization is primarily active at the grassroots (“seaweed”) level, with links to 1,400 ocean organizations large and small, spanning coastal states and the heartland.
